Larry Lowman of Arkansas talks about the magical muscadine grape, some basics.

These are a few raw clips from a documentary I'm currently assembling. The final product should move much more quickly.

  • hey can you tell me when the harvest time is for these??? i know where some wild ones are at but they dont have any fruit on them yet and i want to make sure the one i dig up bears fruit.

  • Depending on where you are, you may start seeing ripe ones in late August. On average, mid-September is what you're looking for.

  • alright i live in pensacola florida. ive written about 10 people and you all have said the same time..the fall basically, but do you recommend anytime to dig them up...can i did them up with the fruit on them?? im kind of short on time lol...i recently swore into the navy

  • I'm afraid I don't know the answer to when you can dig them up. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Best of luck in the Navy!

  • @lucianvenutian Do these grapes have seeds?

  • Do these grapes have seeds?

  • @imtarheelborn509 actually native Americans knew of muscadines way before the English ever did

  • @CraZayTube most muscadine vines found in the wild are male, about 85 percent and wild varieties are normally not as good as selected cultivators,or need a pollinator. buy a vine from a nursery they are normally cheep. most people would be much better off doing this. but trust me i am ALWAYS looking in the woods for a wild vine that bears huge loads of large fruit...but the best time to dig up a vine is in the late winter early spring before the new buds push out

  • Is it a pure Vitis rotundifolia or is it a hybrid? How does it taste?

  • very well done

  • Great video, Muscadine wine in particular is delicious. Check out the video for "Muscadine Wine" by Ken Will Morton on my Youtube channel!

  • Know of any good websites for muscadine recipes?
