I like the idea, but it isn't just that simple.
Sure a lot can be learned online, but hands on knowledge is very important as well, and so is social interaction. There are lots of educational videos online.
The U.S. has a public education system that is free. The U.S. also provides lots of education grants for students who want to pursue further education, and recently President Obama has announced an initiative to make education more doable, but not necessarily more affordable.
