This is our family band when we play our
Ass in the Graveyard set (Foxhunter, Cork Hill, Ward's Jig, Keel Row, Piper of Drummond, Tail Toddle, Kilt is my Delight, Kronstadt Polka). The pipe set is a 3/4 MacLellan in A440.

  • Nice set of tunes.

Pipes in A and fiddle. Love it.

How does the sound level compare to the fiddle live ?

Can you do C nat and F nat with cross-fingering on this chanter ?

  • The pipes dominate the sound but the fiddle blends beautifully. IMHO, the perfect combination, unless you prefer a fiddle dominated sound.

Fingering C and my MacLellan chanters is great. F is acceptable. No G#, though.

  • do you have cd's I play the pipes & this music is different than I've ever heard. Fire 'em up!

  • No, we have no CD. We are an occasional family band. These tunes are regular Scottish piping tunes played without the usual piping competition ornamentations.

  • Are those pipes specifically designed at that pitch? Or do you have a MacLellan A440 chanter w/drone extenders or what?

  • Yes, this is a MacLellan three-quarter (3/4) set with dron extenders and with a 3/4-size chanter that is specifically desidned for A440 and available from Roddy MacLellan (USA).

  • Very nice. Roddy MacLellan makes some of the most beautiful pipes in the world (both aurally and visually).

  • Pipes that are tuned to an A base note with 440 Hz (today's concert pitch A). As opposed to Great Highland Pipes where A is tuned to around somewhere between 470 and 482 Hz.

  • what kind of pipes are those..A440, whats that?

  • Good to see more highland pipes in A440 out there... too rare and too wonderful. Nice set!
