Great performance. This is Brahms !!! Great Maestro!!!
-
I like this movement. One of the best symphonies
-
The second movement is special because imo it somehow pairs intimate truth with outward exhuberance and passion. It's so well balanced. One of my favorite Brahms moments :-)

People are always drooling over the 3rd movement (and rightfully so), but the 2nd movement is by far my favorite. I don't know why. Awesome.

Weingartner was a contemporary of Maestro Brahms himself!! Perhaps he even met the Maestro in person and saw him conducting his own third symphony. It gives me goose bumps!

@Triosfrios Yes, they were familiar with each other. Brahms once attended a performance of his second symphony conducted by Weingartner and had great things to say about Weingartner's sensitive conducting. Brahms wrote about the performance ""It began with my symphony, which he conducted from memory really splendidly. Right after the first movement the whole orchestra had at last to rise to acknowledge the response. The third movement had to be repeated. The performance was truly wonderful."
