In order to prevent the Nile River from encroaching on the Giza Plateau during the time of floods, such as those which impacted the ancient city of Ramses, there were structures put in place to control the flows.

  • The levy wall is roughly the same distance from the Sphinx and the Sphinx is from the Great Pyramid. See our "Aerial" flights and overheads on this same account. "Flyover Giza" might get you there by search.
