@DlABL0GlCAL believe me the band WERE aware of how much they were loved by their fans.....they loved the fans back.....their dressing room was always filled with fans after every gig

@landscapecadmonkey agreed. ppl will always experiement. and lsd has never been a habit forming or addictive drug. your body builds an immunity real fast and it just stops doing anything making it pointless taking it. the cops raided bhead in the 80s and gave it a name. 2 yrs l8r the chief inspector went down for 5 yrs for selling it back to dealers!! and it never stopped. merseyside drug squad the most corrupt org in north west.

@Hacker73 dont know about 'funny'... many people received very severe sentences - way more than they deserved for just casual use. as usual, heavy handed authority screwed mainly youth culture. many lives f**ked up by Op Julie.... purely to appease middle aged-middle class tossers...

I can make an argument that The Clash was the best ever.....better than the Beatles, better than the Stones......now, I don't think they are better....I just think that I can just make the case.......
The origin of this song is funny:
Joe Strummer: "Operation Julie was carried near Wales. They were manufacturating LSD. The only way for the cops to bust them was to put in some hippies of their own, who had to take acid repeatedly to mantain cover. The song is about that, imagining tripping policemen."
