Sharapova's won 3 slams. And at 22, her career isn't even close to being over yet. You can judge someone a diminished champion at the end of their career. Marat Safin is a diminished champion. Maria is not.

Maria...is a person who relies 75% on her serve to consistently win matches. Her shoulder has ruined her serve forever. It'll never be what it used to be...that, among other things, will be her downfall.

I respectfully disagree. After watching her Tokyo matches, it's safe to say her serve can go back to what it used to be. She's gone back to a more elongated motion, which helps her timing. This summer she was serving 15-20 double faults per match and she was still pulling out wins over top 10 players.

Also, her backhand side does not break down
nearly as much as Federer's.

Sharapova holds no candle to Justine when the Belgian is at her best. She even said it was an honor to play Justine after this match.

She definitely can hold her own against Justine. Has Justine played any other player in this final, it wouldn't have took nearly 3 1/2 hours.
