Although speaking in english and coming from india, anand's modest and humble politeness reminds me of a former world champion max euwe who i had the honour to play blitz with for an hour in amsterdam in 1975. He was so nice to us group of amateurs and gave us some tips on the noble game and he listened intently to our ideas. Amazingly i managed to win the final game, but to this day i think he blundered his queen away on purpose so as to give "some" respectability to my score.(11 loses! 1 win)

Keep in mind that the World Championship in chess is the only event that nets that kind of money. In the whole spectrum of professional sports, chess may be the least lucrative of all. :)
