@TheWestcoastairsoft he's right in a sense, they started with M40a1 around the vietnam era. They messed around and came up with multiple different A1 models. Then they created the M40A3. The M40A3 had many models aswell. There is actually a model A3/A5. The A5 is startin to be used. There are 2 different A5 models. One is very much like the A3, and one returned almost to its original roots as a highly upgraded A1. But, overall all of the models are either an A1 or an upgraded version in the end.
