http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=105085 This is the first update to my spring garden. The snap beans are about 3 - 4 inches tall, 3 - 4 inches wide and more are breaking through the ground.

The cantaloupes are starting to break through the ground.

The potatoes are anywhere from 1 foot tall to just breaking through the ground.

There is one squash sprout - which is ok. The ground might still be a little cold for the squash and zucchini to sprout. Give it another week and they should start breaking through the soil.

The corn was planted 3 days ago. In another 3 - 4 days we should see it start breaking through the soil.

  • What do you do with ocre?

  • @HectorAwol - Okra is good fried, in a gumbo and you can pickle it.

  • Don't pull out the sprouts. Get a pair of small scissors and cut out the ones you don't want at the base. When you cut out the ones you don't want, then you have absolutely NO destruction of the root system of the remaining sprout that you want to keep.

  • You should make some newspaper cups and start your seeds inside to get a jump on the season. By using newspaper, you can plant the cup without disturbing the roots and the newspaper will biodegrade.
