This July 30th I was able to see the Daily Show live again. Awesome! The people working there were, as usual, very nice and helpful. They gave out water to the increasingly sticky crowd as we waited. (Stupid weather, being all hot and humid and such.)
It was a different warm-up guy, but this time I know his name. It was Paul Mercurio. He was quite fun.
I should have thought up a question to ask Jon during the Q&A portion, but it wasn't till after the taping I realized I could have asked him about Nashville. I should have mentioned I really enjoyed his stand up gig there, and that I wondered whether *anything* interesting happened to him while in town. Too bad for missed opportunities, I guess.
The most memorable bit from this trip was by far the interview. The guest I saw was Ben Wattenberg, the "Fighting Words" guy. You know him, the one who reminded viewers that "The Bronx" was singular ... in case, you know, people accidently confused the New York borough with one of several bucking "broncs".
But that slip up was worth a mere moment's giggle. What really floored me was when this guy asked Jon Stewart if he remembered 9-11. Never mind that shortly after it happened Jon made a very touching speech on TDS about his reaction ... or that he has often talked about 9-11 on TDS ... or that it's been one of the most talked about topics by newscasters and the general public all across America for the past seven years---I'd just love to know how anybody has the nerve to ask a New Yorker if they remember 9-11 with a straight face. And he didn't stop there. This didn't make it on air, but this guy actually went on to describe for Jon what happened to people that day. Seriously! The man has to be going senile or something.
He also kept telling Jon to "be serious," then would "reveal" something that was common knowledge to most everybody present (most especially Jon) in the oddly dulcet tones of grandfatherly condescention. Frankly, I was impressed with Mr. Stewart's patience.
Anyway, I loved the chance to see the show recorded live again. It's always a fun experience. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. *smiles*
Oh, and for the record, I know this video isn't anything dazzling. I just wanted to write about my experience for friends who visit this account.
I went to the one this month with Jerry Seinfild and one in October with this lady/comedian who had a book out. I have a ticket again for show on June 8th.

@DebbyNJ That's really great. I wish I lived in NYC so I could try to go more often. *sigh*

you have no idea how jealous I am...
do you know what the air date was for the episode you went to? I don't think I've seen the one you're describing.

He's fabulous. Absolutely fabulous! You should totally make a trip to New York and see TDS while you're there. Just check their ticket website on the day of the show and you'll likely snag one. :-)
