American Mystic Trailer

Speaking as a Wiccan... Strike that, a thinking person. If you want respect, show respect. Telling someone you are "lumped in" with them is very disrespectful. I respect other cultures, but do not come with a "we're more sacred than you" mindset. It's not a peaceful thing to do. Weren't so many converted to an imported religion by that very mindset? The people you say you are lumped in with are some of the strongest supporters of preserving native religions around the world. We're all pagans.

I am a lakota, I am also a sundancer. I do not appreciate my way of life being displayed in this disrespectful sensational manner. I have no quarrel with witches or any other spiritual practice but we cannot be classified with another spiritual path. We are separate and the people that I know dont like there religions portrayed this way earthier. It is also disrespectful to the viewer. I am shure that the lakota people that helped to film this will have a lot of explaining to do.

As a lakota, this is very disrespectful. That tree there, should NEVER be photographed, and scars are never to be looked upon in this manner. We are not wiccans, not pagans, not "mystics", nothing of the sort. For this form of ceremony to be put out here in this way is very exploitive. If you want to know about our ceremonies, you must have certain qualities, and our people and our holy men know how to teach the sincere ones about these things, but this is public, theyres no filter. its wrong.

This seems like it will be a good documentery about alternative faiths and practices. I am glad that they included The Lakota spiritual practices, because it lets outsiders know that some of the old practices are still safe. That not all the Native Americans converted to Christianity and lost who they were. As for the other spiritualities I am glad that they included a pagan and a spiritualist. More light has needed to be shown on these practices for a long while.

Spirtualist=Fraud. Aside from the impassibility of it, every spiritualist who has ever been investigated has been exposed as a self-conscious fraud (name one that hasn't).

@asiam994 No, they didnt actually record inside the uwipi. They recreated the experience based on what the guy was saying (with flashlights, if I remember correctly). The director explains in if you turn on the commentary. They also didnt video the actual Sun Dance, only the preparations that you see in the trailer.
