I imagine there has to be more than just After Effects - meaning there certainly is some illustration and animation, most likely video as well... it's not just straight up moving type. This is a piece of art. I quote the great Greyscale Gorilla who called this "The ORIGINAL see and say type video. They fucking invented this shit and nobody has come close to doing it better." I agree. MK12 is the tops. check out their site and reel. If I'm not mistaken, this piece was made in 2003?

AfterEffects is very user friendly. It is a lot of work but it is fun and easy to learn if you like it. Thinking up good animations and concepts is the hard part.

Yes, it is in AfterEffects. I played a little with the same tool but its a lot of work. It's a great program though.
