Sleater-Kinney's last performance, on August 12th, 2006, at the Crystal Ballroom in their hometown of Portland, Oregon. A kickass, punky indie rock band, the best to come out of the Portland music scene, and what I believe is the best band associated with riot grrrl, no contest. Catchy as hell to boot, and responsible for the best album of 2005, The Woods, which kicks the shit out of anything else that came out that year in terms of sheer rockoutness.

This is one of their best gigs. You can tell they really wanted to go out with a bang. Highlights include an incendiary performance of End of You, probably the definitive version, and Entertain, the best punk song written since Lord knows when.

  • i don't think anybody has thought about it...but out of all the last songs to play, One More Hour is the song...

the breakup song, basically. SK broke up with us after this whole life long relationship...]]: smart punx

  • I haven't watched this since right after it was uploaded. The fact that Corin can barely get through the song because she's crying so hard sends me over the edge. Good God, what an amazing, brave performance from an amazing, brave band.

  • @ourvoltage -- OH, BELIEVE ME-- I've definitely thought about it. I'm an absolute S-K lunatic. I also loved this choice of song because it illustrated S-K's strength as a band and the individuals' love for one another and their outstanding chemistry/synergy; being that Corin wrote it about her breakup with Carrie back in 1996 or 1997, and yet the band stuck together to produce 9-10 more years of amazing and inspiring music.

And to think-- I have never had the pleasure of seeing them live :/

  • @ideamedea the worst, saddest and most beautiful thing to happen to rock and roll in the past decade.

i bawl every time i watch this. stupid obsessive thinking of mine, but i was just now wondering why Janet didn't back Corin up vocally, and then realized she could have-- possibly-- also been crying. and THAT sent me over the edge.

  • that was so so beautiful send me a dvd some one
