This piece from The Merry Widow was arranged for octave mandolin by my mandolin teacher, John Hayes, of East Sussex

The well-known theme to this tune starts at 1 minute 15 seconds.

I am playing it on my octave mandolin which was made for me by Alex Willis of Westham, East Sussex - see /www.willisguitars.co.uk/

The video was recorded on a Canon S5 IS digital camera and the movie was edited using Serif MoviePlus

  • Thanks Mandolin1944 - I've been learning the piece since January which might explain how I've got it reasonably OK

  • Really like the deep rich sound of that instrument!!! I've always liked that tune and it sounds wonderful on your mandolin; thanks for posting this and can't wait to hear more.

  • Remarkable! I cannot imagine how you keep all those chord changes in mind. The tune has a subtle melody which makes it even harder to learn. Outstanding performance. That is a great sounding insturment as well.
