Labour's John 'Two Shags' Prescott had a major fit at Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming for breaking yet another super-injunction. No conflict of interest from Prescott, who tried to cover up having an affair while the taxpayers were supposedly paying him to do work, no do his secretary.

Presenter Gavin Esler also oblivious to the law, he states that Hemming "broke the law" by naming the sleaze footballer with the super-injunction, he did no such thing. Does he not know the meaning of Parliament Privilege, it's been around for a few hundred years.

Recorded from BBC Newsnight, 23 May 2011.

  • Getting your phones tapped is an invasion of privacy. Having press taking pics of you through your windows is an invasion of privacy. Having your mistress talking to the press about your affair is NOT an invasion of your privacy that is you using lawyers to twist the law to your benefit because you can afford to do so. Having a secret judgement gagging the press is undemocratic and cuts against the right to free speech.

  • We pay judges a lot of money so they will be less liable to corruption ie people bribing them to adjust sentences. Turns out paying them loads has made them believe they are part of the jet set elite and should protect other rich men from revelations of adulterous affairs

  • These judges far from thinking they are upholding justice or enforcing the European human rights act are simply picking a fight with the tabloids to let them know who's got the power and of course in case m'lud should ever want to play away from home (just like Giggsy) then they can kibosh any uppity little tart having the effrontery to think she could make money out of it.

  • Can't people see how outrageous secret court hearings are? It is like something from the days of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany.

I wonder what grubby secrets John Prescott is hiding.

  • Fuck the BBC total fucking nazis.

  • Prescott is a vile, incoherent bully. The PCC is toothless IMO, but his behaviour was a massive FAIL. Hemmings acquitted himself pretty well, bearing in mind the way that he was represented by the other participants.

  • Why is it just for those that can afford to pay? And why is it used to cover up wrong doings?

  • This was a ridiculously onesided debate. The BBC should have got someone supporting Hemming's position involved (Kelvin Mackenzie would have been good!) The establishment is getting a reality check on this. The sooner that the right to privacy is taken out of the EHR the better - privacy is applicable in certain cases, but it is not a universal right!

  • "it's ego" that's rich coming from John "two jags" Prescott

  • John Hemming is doing this for freedom of the Press and was right to release those names, Superinjunctions are a front to democracy that only the super rich can afford to cover up an affair-pathetic
