I've been helped out so much by watching other people's videos on YouTube. There are so many awesome musicians on here that give freely of their knowledge, and I've benefitted so much from it, that I felt compelled to give back.

I hope this video helps you!

  • don't worry about all these anal types - this video has helped me a lot and I don't care what the chords are called - thanks man!

  • you're very welcome my friend.

  • I'm not going in semanthic terms in order to bother people or anything. Just wanting to help out a little bit with my knowledge and trying to get some critics in order to improve myself as musician. Do you get it...? Or u want it in other words? Hahahaha =D

  • It's all good man. It's just that in musical terms, there are tons of valid ways you can choose to look at something. It's just that there are tons of people posting comments saying, "No, this is really what it is, not this" instead of "or you can also choose to look at it this way".

A lot of times, the people that post those kinds of comments on here are wrong.

So it just gets irritating after a while.

  • The two "slash chords" you are talking about are really dominant suspended chords. In easy way--> A7sus4(9) and B7sus4(9). Theyre also used in the secod part. If you want to make little embellishments just like mayer does, beware of using the mayor third, it should be completly omitted.

  • great, more semantics......it never ends.....

  • This is great - I'm a piano player and my guitarist wanted to do this song so knowing what he's playing really helps me create my piano part. I agree that the sound is primary. But, to be theoretically correct those chords are 7sus9 chords. And the altered IV chord progression is would actually be: A7/C# Dsus9 | C13 A7sus9 B7sus9 | The "Dbmin b5" chord is actually just the top three notes of an A7 chord. HOWEVER, I think the way you explained it actually makes it easier to learn. Cheers!

  • I'm reallu sorry for my scolastic english... but i think that is good enough to say "this is the best video/lesson I ever seen" thank you sooooo much .... grazie e ciao dall'italia

  • Fantastic. I struggled a bit with this song especially the C#-D-C mods. you also have the right feel for it. Any douche-bag trying to correct you has undoubtedly never taken their guitar out of their bed room. This came up last Thurs Jam nite and the funny thing is that the other guitar player knew the chords but didn't capture the right feel for the verse riff... so we alternated and it came out preety good. Thanks for this vid. extremely helpful!

  • Cool dog! ^^

    Cool playin' ;)

  • Dude, you rock. Great chops and helpful instruction. If the point is to learn how to play this song and not quiz you on your theory I'd rather you physically show us what to play rather than why it's called what it's called.

  • I have a Mini Dachshund too! :D

  • I like your dog.

  • dont worry about your sinign, it reminds me of robert cray's singing, has that same tone

  • Thanks Mike!! I´ve been wondering for a long time wich are the right chords for this version.. It seems that my search it´s over... Saludos, desde Sinaloa, México!!

  • Canta mal pra carai xD
