Many Christians mistakenly believe that true Christians don't get depressed, and this misconception heaps additional pain and guilt onto Christians who are suffering from mental and emotional distress. Author David P. Murray comes to the defense of depressed Christians, asserting that Christians do get depressed! He explains why and how Christians should study depression, what depression is, and the approaches caregivers, pastors, and churches can take to help those who are suffering from it. With clarity and wise biblical insight, Dr. Murray offers help and hope to those suffering from depression, the family members and friends who care for them, and pastors ministering to these wounded members of their flock.

Endorsements:
"If I felt depressed, Christians Get Depressed Too is the first place I would turn. If I had a family or church member fighting depression, it is the first book I would hand out. This clear, concise, and compassionate book by my esteemed colleague, Dr. David Murray, who has worked in pastoral ministry with many depressed Christians, is disarmingly simple and eminently practical. In these few pages covering the crisis, complexity, condition, causes, and cures of depression, together with advice for the caregiver, you will find a world of sound, wise, scriptural advice for handling a variety of cases of depression. If you fight depression, read and re-read this usable, balanced, and timely book; if you don't fight depression, read it to be informed how to relate to your friends that do, and give a copy to each of them." - Dr. Joel R. Beeke

"I heartily commend this new and helpful book on depression and psychiatric illness. It is the condensed result of much reading and pastoral wisdom, digested into a few non-technical chapters. It is full of Christian love for those who suffer in this way and who need our utmost compassion and tactful sympathy. I wish I had known the things written in these pages when I was a much younger minister." - Maurice Roberts

  • Wheelychris, I'm not sure I understand. Are you creating a conflict between doctrine and life? I may have misunderstood you. Thanks for clarifying.

  • Whilst as a Christian who has had depression - I agree that Christians are just as vulnerable to depression as others - I do not believe that Christians carry any more potential for empathy and sympathy than other people - indeed I believe that it is possible to live a good life 'in sin' as David Murphy sees it - after all - it is surely about what we do in life - than what we believe in, and use that belief for?

  • "Deep Seated" in my statement means that something happened a very long time ago that made me feel abandoned and from then throughout my adult years things have happened in my life that continued making me feel that way. So I guess in my case it means my issues will probably take a really long time to work through. Now I protect myself with walls around me not letting people really know me. Self preservation I guess.

  • @DJR551955 whats deep seated

  • I am a Christian and I am Bi-Polar, Depressed, I have deep seated abandonment issues that cause an anxiety disorder
