Outernational Drum & Bass
Although it took a little time to find their fans abroad, the DJs have been building a solid global circuit since the late 90s. There were several spearheads breaking the sound internationally. One was Roni Size's Reprazent with a live outfit as early as '97 touring the New Forms album that came out on Talkin Loud - a label headed by Gilles Peterson and Paul Martin who had a deep network of DJs and clubs around Europe, Japan and Australia.

Metalheadz with Goldie as its figurehead became an international brand, opening up the market by experimenting and taking on new talent. The UK's D&B DJs have been playing huge events in literally every corner of the globe and the exchange has meant that there has been a solid roster of talent growing around the globe.

Producers and DJs include DJ Marky, XRS and Patife from Brazil, who have become key to the scene bringing a captivating fusion of Latin vibes to D&B. In 2001 DJ Marky won Best International DJ at the Knowledge Magazine Awards - the fact there is such an award is a tribute to the expansion of the scene.

Also notable is the DMC champ DJ Craze from Miami who was one of the first to mix hip hop and drum & bass in competitions, and more recently, Juju from San Francisco (Phuturo Recs), Pendulum from Australia, Teebee of Norway and Alix Perez from France.
