Here I am covering one of my all time favourite bass lines by my all time favourite bass player. James Jamerson knew how to lay down a groove - he could give you something of such complexity, but equally something of simplicity!
Ain't No Mountain High Enough takes more of the simplicity form. What's incredible about the bass line is he never plays anything more than an 8th note! How can something so rhythmical be so simple?! The mind boggles...
I would like to point out that I am in no way trying to imitate Jamerson's style or technique - merely paying homage to the man as my main influence. A full transcription of this bass line can be found at The Bassment (www.thebassment.info)
Here's the techie stuff...

wonderful version. Have you rolled the bridge pickup all the way off? i play a jazz with a mute too, just curious about your tone. I'd buy a P bass if i was loaded but i have to emulate jamerson on my Jazz.

@LostInFunk Thanks mate. Yeh, a bit of hook - not intentional, I just tend to use that finger most, but mix it up with my index and ring finger a bit. I think you can see that sometimes in the video.
