Recorded 9-27-63 to be aired on CBS's Judy Garland Show. The Dillards (Doug Dillard, Rodney Dillard, Dean Webb and Mitch Jayne) play "Buckin' Mule". Doug makes the sounds of a braying mule on his banjo in one of the more unique bluegrass tunes. In this version, he gets more than braying. • I would like to see the song all the way through without the broken string. I have this on an album and it's hilarious !!

  • This song also was played on 'The Andy Griffith Show', in the episode where a 'song-catcher' was in town to record 'authentic music'. (Too bad Barney didn't have that harmonica solo more polished and presentable).

  • Whoa Mule is most popular by Raymond Fairchild

  • That's "Whoa, Mule, Whoa" not Buckin' Mule. They used to play this by someone else on WBAP radio.
