My latest scene for my Director's Scene Workshop class at SUNY Purchase. Getting a small cast and crew together, I remade a scene from the beginning of Rounders. After all the work put into it, I just thought I'd upload it.

  • this sucked. why did you completely copy rounders. why didnt you make an original scene or something. you took all the dialouge VERBATIM. honestly, i hate things like this. i cant stand plagiarism and this was painful for me to watch. oh but i did laugh at the guy who played KGB. he was terrible, but hilarious.

  • I'm glad you explain why you hate it, and I gotta agree with you. It was really painful for me to edit this thing, as I felt that it wasn't "mine" at all. It was more of an experiment with actors/lighting/staging, elements I've never used before. Thanks for commenting.

  • That was unbelievably whack

  • I know...it's boring, slow, cheesy, anticlimactic, it loses sync sound, and... what was the 6th thing you said?

Honestly, I don't like it myself. I think that's why I uploaded it; to receive the negative comments I didn't get from friends/classmates/mom. It'll push me into making my next one better.

    So um, thanks.

  • I used a friend's awesome camera; I should've reformatted it to fit the screen (it's supposed to be widescreen.)

  • where is the freaking background music!

  • YES!

  • rubbish

  • Great Stuff! This cracks me up so much, My favourite scene in the movie, that and the last hand as well,

"You a right" "I don't have da spades"!

    Access Full...Mike!

I would like to see more!

  • Solid for a narrative scene. Way to actually put some effort in, fake a lot of locations well, and work minimally on your lights.

  • i liked it!!

  • the actors were terrible..

  • Hey I liked it actually. Independent film clips are extremely hard to make. To make them look realistically like a film in a movie theatre rather than one recorded on a camcorder is very hard. There were flaws, (I didn't mind it being done exactly as Rounders, that was the purpose wasn't it?) but it was good for a cheap budget.

  • no problem. another reasons i didnt like it is cause your shots of the characters faces were too far away. i dont think you had a single closeup shot on your main character. you did for KGB, but your main guy's more important. throw a few in so the audience can get a clear shot of the speaker, even if for a brief second.
