What makes the water on this lotus leaf looks like it is boiling. The water temperature is around 35C. Could it be some gases generated by the leaf. Is this the photosynthesis in work, CO2 to O2. Can we save the world from global warming with Lotus plants.

  • The plant is respiring or producing oxygen because of photosynthesis. That is what you are seeing isn't it?

  • I don't think you could reach boiling point on that leaf, it would evaporate before that could happen. The depressions in the lotus plant's leaf allow along with an oily outer layer, entrapment of the water along with air bubbles. The bubbles just simply evacuate the water when the plant moves around
