New remake of my original Marlin 336 disassembly video.

Part 1 of a 2 part informational series on disassembly & reassembly of a Marlin 336 Rifle for field strip & cleaning maintenance.

These new videos do not contain the lengthy disclaimer of the past videos so should be more enjoyable to watch. The reason I remade them is because I think people were getting a lot out of them. Regardless of the disclaimers, regarding them on my blog - the blog post originally containing them was one of the most popular of my blog, if not the most popular. It was often number 1 for the number of page views and visits.

Here is my new brief version of the disclaimer for the video: If you view this video, use information from it, or pass it on, to others who view it, use info from it, or pass it on yet again (ad infinitum), you do so at your own risk and agree to hold me harmless and indemnify me.

  • Yeah, I could make it shorter but 90 seconds would in no way be enough time for me to cover it all thoroughly and safely.

  • I don't have that safety on my 336. That's odd.

  • @sharpie443 On earlier models of the Marlin 336, there was no push button safety. The only safety back then was the half cock capability which was retained after the addition of the newer safety. Of course, the 'best safety' is to always observe and carry out the firearms rules of safety.

  • I really don't have any opinion on the Otis cleaning kit since I have never used one and am unfamiliar with it except to know they put out a bunch of kits with bore snakes. I just use a regular cleaning kit on mine and that works fine. I would imagine any general purpose firearms cleaning kit would work just as well and maybe some types would be better but I do not know which.

    All the best,

  • I had to answer this in a message to PooPoo2U because the comment secton would not take my comment. Don't konw why but it kept giving me an error message; maybe because I included 2 web addresses! The Marlin manual has parts diagram and so does Steve's Gun Pages, although maybe for different models of the 336. Just Google "page 7b" to find his page that links to many, many firearms manuals.

    All the best,

    Glenn B

  • Good video but it would have been even better if it was only 90 seconds.

  • What is your opinion on the otis cleaning kit? Is it good for lever actions? I have a Marlin 336 chambered in 30.30 winchester and I was thinking about getting one for it. Do you recommend it?

  • @PooPoo2U i beleave your talking about the carrier screw i work for marlin in the distribution department so i know my stuff. the part number for the carrier screw is 301190 assuming your talking about a 336 model a 444 or 1895. with the exception of the 336ss being its stainless steel then its 301001.

  • What is the name of the screw that's directly to the right of the safety button in the video? My buddy's lost his and we have to buy a replacement which is darn hard when you don't know what Marlin calls the screw! haha
