What is MonkeyFest?

Some call it the "The holy shrine of shredutainment", others call it the "Glastonbury for guitarists"... MonkeyFest is the guitar tuition festival where a selection of planet Earths elite guitarists meet to play, teach, jam and above all have fun.

As well as the super star six string samurais such as Guthrie Govan and Andy james, I am very excited to be unleashing some underground heroes and rising stars that I am sure will simultaneously shock and refresh the ears and minds of the lucky ticket holders. Artists such as Ben Wilshire, Adam Lee, Lyle Watt and Sam Coulson already have thousands of fans on Youtube, mind boggling skills and yet are as yet relatively unknown.

What gave you the idea for MonkeyFest?

I have always fostered a tradition/work ethic of doing everything myself. I have self released music, launched my own guitar company and now that my YouTube channel is regularly the most viewed musician channel in the UK -- MonkeyFest was a logical step to take into the world of live entertainment... plus I love grass, beer and shredding \m/

How is MonkeyFest different to other festivals?

MonkeyFest is run by guitarists for guitarists. We are absolutely mad about guitars, guitar music and the fraternity/brotherhood of guitarists. Our festival is a gathering of like minded sonic adventurers, all drinking from the same stream and washed down to the sea that is Monkeyfest.

What do you hope to achieve from MonkeyFest 2011?

A big smile, a feeling of accomplishment, the satisfaction of bringing world class guitar tuition and entertainment to nice people and a big hairy hangover that lasts long enough to remind of what a good time I had.

Do you have any plans to run MonkeyFest on a yearly basis?

Yes, my dream is to work at MonkeyFest to the point where we can afford to bring some of the USA shred super stars over, and really raise the bar on the quality of the event. I have many plans for cool workshops that I would love to run over the weekend, everything from writing and self releasing through to gear set up and how to make a living as a musician by utilizing new media.

What are you most looking forward to seeing/doing at MonkeyFest 2011?

I am most looking forward to seeing the faces of 800 hairy axe wielding dudes all mesmerized by the insane chops of my artist roster, and watching them as their minds are both opened and blown away.

Seriously though... It takes two years of blood sweat and tears for a Troll mother to agonizingly birth her toothsome offspring, only for it to feast upon her remains before it stomps off to grumbling to grow, pillage etc... MonkeyFest is a bit like that, just more so...
