  • Brent was the key to the Deads success in the 80s! Everytime he sang the crowd came to life! When he passed...The peak of the Dead died with him! He was so fun to watch! This is the one song I never saw him sing. I saw his last Blow Away and I Will Take You Home. Hope your hanging with Jerry, Keith, Pigpen, and Vince!

  • I love in the movie "The Music Never Stopped," when the main character asks where PIgpen is.

  • LMAO At OneMoreHitDOTCom . . . 10 Steps Ahead Of You (~);}

  • Wrong it is a fact that more people went to the bathroom during ship of fools than any other song. Sorry but I agree with gerns99 comment. Jerry even moved to Brents side of the stage to better interact with him.

  • @gerns99 C'mon! I'm sorry that he died so young, but to write "every time he sang the crowd came to life!" is just revisionist ." I was at this show (opened the second set ....and yes...it was hot), but I think most deadheads took their bathroom breaks when Brent sang. Again, I'm not putting Brent down....the fact that he was gone in less than a year was tragic...just think you're embellishing. BTW it was also clear that JERRY loved him!

  • GET DOWN BRENT!

  • @gerns99

    agreed 100%. the soul and energy Brent put into his performances was unrivaled. his last Blow Away is amazing. I really wish I was into the Dead when I was 9, I would have been there! lol

  • @gerns99-You're right about the 80's peak with Brent .I love the old stuff but the 80's dead was my time& I wouldn't trade being there for anything and it declined, as you said ,after Brent's passing

  • I was sitting out in dead center for this show, the legendary "California Earthquake" closed the first set.....

    Good version here.....

  • kick fucking ass

  • @gerns99 you are so right. Brent was the true soul of the Dead through the 80s. Just look at the looks and smiles he and Jerry shared, Jerry was always looking in Brents direction to feed his fun onstage. He was mostly scowling at the drummers when he looked the otehr way... :)

  • Great performance. I miss him. Jerry really poured it on too. :-)
