Exactly. I wasn't close. I was just highlighting why I cycle away from parked cars. If I cycled in the door zone, this could have been serious.

This happened to me a few years ago. Cycling down a hill at 35MPH in a 40, car door opens and just clips my handle bars and sent me over the top and onto the road. The car coming in the opposite direction crashed in to a buss stop. I got a new bike and helmet, 3 months off work, and the girl who crashed into the buss stop got a new car and Leeds got a new buss stop. All on the dozy guy who opened his car door without looking. It must have cost his insurance a small fortune.

It's the same when walking past a car that's just pulled up. I hate doing it because you expect the passenger getting out to just slam the door open and take you out aha. Isn't really related to this video but it's nearly happened to me before.

@acme181169 I really is that small a distance, I was passed by my brother in his car doing around 90mph (he said) ten miles away from our home when I was learning to ride a motorcycle and i was pottering along at 45mph on my 125cc, I pulled into our road as he was backing onto the drive. I also used to achieve 120mpg on that thing.

I just wish more people were aware of the miniscule difference to their journey time their elevated speed makes.

It's always a good idea to be 2ft out at all times, it gives you somewhere to go when the idiots get too close. They just want us in the gutters cos its more important that they get to where they're going 5 seconds earlier!

I was driving along Great Western Road heading toward Anniesland Cross from Knightswood and a cyclist was knocked off the was you could have been. He was okay but it was nasty. I was the only person who stopped to make sure he was okay.

What if "the door zone" is the only place to cycle. I live in Caronto (Toronto) and you literally need to have jedi powers to avoid skin+concrete.

Fuck motorists though, they always have some shitty excuse for not looking in their mirrors after almost killing you. Will it take my corpse on their windshield before they realize there foolishness?

I have jaywalkers glued to their crackberries telling me to watch out for riding my bike in there path.

Seriously, fuck everyone that doesnt bike.
