Geno and the Ram Jam Band live at the Barbican during the Soul Britania show. Pinnochio-drums, Wolfman-gtr, Stevie Deuce-bass, Sparticus and Orlando starr-sax.
Lance - get real. This is bad. Can't remember the words. Going through the motions. As hypermetropia says "He's 'going through the motions', but hey, we all have bills to pay!"
Thanks to your comment I have checked out Nolan Wiltz's myspace and listened to some of his tracks. Excellent music, I shall try and catch one of his gigs. In fairness to Geno, this is a different genre of singing, it's the Blues, not dance music.
I saw Geno on Friday night (August 1st) playing with his band at the GIG IN THE PARK HALESWORTH.
He was on form and put on an energetic and entertaining set. This video really does not do Geno justice. It's not an enthousiastic performance, I'll give you that. He's 'going through the motions', but hey, we all have bills to pay!
The best Black UK Blues-Soul vocalist is a pretty much unknown American from Ipswich called Nolan Wiltz. He sings with a Soul Funk Band called South o' the Border. He also has a originial roots blues trio called HomeBrew. He's better than Geno ever was. Why this dude ain't famous.. I'll never know.
WEll maybe because he didn't follow Geno's advice. "You Gotta Leave Ipswich".
Thats a great experience to remember. Every so often I get out my Shifters and Finger Clickin' Mama's LP and listen' to 'Water , 'All I Need' etc. Great stuff.
He does a great version of Michael .... Geno washington and The Ram Jam Band Performing on The 'This is Soul tour 2008 UK ... its on Youtube here and I think it rocks.
I was there at the gig at the Half moon in Putney too and have to admit I was blown away! Such energy! The new guitarist is great...was only his 3rd or 4th gig apparently...great stuff!
You don't know what you missed. Geno was a regular at the Club A Go Go in Newcastle. First saw him when I was 16 back in 1967. I still think he's brilliant and I still play his Albums.
I also saw him in Shipston-on-Stour on Saturday night - like JmeisterJ says, excellent show despite the rain and a few sound problems - inevitable when you're performing on a 40ft curtain-side trailer with rain waterfalling down onto your speaker stacks!! Fantastic showman and tight band kept us all in great spirits. Well done to Tim Porter for organising yet another brilliant night.
In the sixties he was brilliant. He has become a self indulgent parody. He should stick to singing the songs as they were written, rather than some half-baked version with silly lyrics. I saw him in the sixties - he was excellent live. Saw him last year - left after an extended awful version of " I put a spell on you". Tragic.
Geno is one cool dude. Some friends of mine saw him live and were really impressed. One saw him in London in the sixties and he and The Ram Jam Band were the group to see back then. Wish I had been around in those days.
Listen to his albums quite often, just had them put to CD

I saw Geno last night and had an amazing time! He's a great showman and very enthusiastic, even if it might not show here.

Geno is a great show man and a true legend. I loved his "Change Your Thoughts, You Change Your LIfe" album. It rocks.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Dreadful - hard to describe just how far he has fallen. Once, he was the best. Now - sad.

I saw him at the Groningen Rhythm and Blues festival in 1995. He was playing in a tiny room at 2 a.m. but man, he was great!

His voice isn't quite a strong as it once was - he seems to be struggling a bit. Let me see, he was born in 1943, so he just coming up to 64.... Ah.
ok then ;-)
