Thanks. I have just followed your instructions and it started first time. I took it steady as I am no mechanic but I took photos as I took it apart which were really useful for getting the washers in the right order. Paid £13 for the parts and saved myself the cost of a new starter (£200?) and someone fitting it. Nowadays thats the sort of result you want.
