Such a heartrending rendition! Simply wonderful!

Yes he was 6 when his mother died on 4/26/17. One Brother of Ester had died of TB and a sister had a mild case of TB. Ester Bjorling had Pleurisy at age 9 and died sadly with TB on her 35th Birthday, April 26. But on April 10,1917 her last Son Karl David, nick name Kalle was born but she never got to hold him because of the TB. Very sad for young Jussi.

@FacePaster No wonder. His mother died when he was 5. (or so.)

Yeah, like what were those ppl smoking when they said he lacked passion... pffft! Esp luv d part where Jussi sings "Oh Nulla" - most tender... made me remember a line from American Beauty (didn't like d film though lol) - so much beauty... I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in. 'reDiscover jussi bjorling' was d best purchase i've made. Packaging's great too, comes w/ hard to find lyrics translated. Too bad i sat on d cd & breaking it LOL. But made copies prior, thank god.

Like you, kittycrunch456, I bought the Carnegie Hall CD after my 1955 vinyl gave up the ghost, and me too, been "too lazy" to post. We've been beaten to the punch by CarmenMirandasHat, if you can find it. Nice to hear on YT without prompter, and piano alone lets the beauty and Italianate passion of the voice really shine. Holy mascarpone, the power and beauty of that sound!

He has a recital next week, actually.
Jussi impassioned--a great sound--some real italianità here. Let'er rip Jussi. He needs to be heard more in live performance like this.

oh my god. this is incredible. the crying at the end made me tear up. it was deep and heartfelt, not typical italian exaggerated sobs. what an artist.
