Actually, this film is a commentary on America's forgotten lower class. This scene is basically saying that, the best thing that ever happened to Xenia Ohio was a tornado. Its a dose of reality, that most big city americans don't see. That their country is f*cked. Their american dream is a fraud. Its about living with no reason to live other than to keep breathing. Maybe you like blockbusters? OR you like REAL... drama?

This is kind of a stupid question, but what's being implied by the tornado footage?

Is it a flashback to the tornado in the backstory, or is it implying that another tornado hits the town and that things are only going to get worse?

he shows xenia type places with youth creating their own hipster culture. this is shown here in the clothing etc. but also the soundtrack, which is why in one scene we have doom metal(sleep), and in another scene (that involves gun against a childhead) we have madonnas like a prayer. but it all fits like a puzzle with each piece made of a diffrent material (use that in your essay) i love the kubrick influence in the visceral angles. love the casual way shows life can always make your skin crawl.

everyone needs to shut the fuck up about the meaning of the moive. harmony was obviously high the entire time he shot it (and he admitted to this). sometimes shit just happens. the movie is only to marveled at because hes captured so many minds and forced them to obsess over something the creator of didnt even but as much thought into.
