Shooting Dreyse Jagerbuchse M.65 with Seitengewehr M.65 fixed. Without the bayonet handling and shooting of the M.65 was excellent. With the bayonet fixed became unwieldy and very muzzle heavy.

It was traditional that the Jager were armed with a rifle different from the infantry. The M.65 featured a set trigger activated when critical aim was required.

When the M.65 was modified for the Beck conversion allied with the M.72 Patrone, a complete sealing of the breech was attained. Thus velocity increased and therefore range. The M.72 Patrone was a self-obturating cartridge that also lubricated the needle. We intend at a future date to include the M.65 modified for the M.72 Patrone.

The Jagerbuchse M.65 with the advantage of its set trigger was the most accurate and elegant model of the military Dreyse system. Replaced by the Jagerbuchse M/71 Mauser.

The cartridge does indeed incinerate and any fine deposit left is expelled due to the effect of the 'luftkammer' or air-chamber.

We have never experienced a fouled chamber nor bore after several hundreds rounds being expended.
