. i just kinda stumbled upon it and its very beautiful, and id love to learn it but i have no idea what it is! lol im only fifteen so i dont know a lot about this old music, but if you could tell me what it is that would be awesome!
I never said that a a form of Anglian (which developed into Scots) was not spoken or does not have an important role to play in the history of this nation. However, I could provide a mountain of evidence supporting the claim that the Gaelic language has the strongest claim to the title of the "Scottish language". Without Scottish(Gaelic) there would be no SCOTLAND.Read "The Identity of the Scottish Nation:An Historic Quest" by 'William Ferguson'. It is a seminal book on this vast subject.
Wrong, Up until the 1700's there was no one language of Scotland, In the Lowlands they used Scot's in the highlands they used Gaidhlig, and in small regions at times they used both.
An old song from just after the American Civil War sung in the south and written by a bitter soldier from the war goes to the same tune as this song. I think it's called "I'm a good old rebel" but I'm not sure. The Scottish and Irish heritage of the American South is clearly seen in this.
Again, total ignorance. This is Scottish Gaelic (Gaidhlig). The oldest living language in Scotland. The original language of the Scottish people. Fact.
John is brilliant gealic Tutor as well as a great singer lovely to hear this!
