Press were invited to the switching on of the gigantic Makara wind farm west of Wellington, the scale of the project became apparent as we bumped along some of the 33km of road constructed across a 50km area of what was mostly extremely hilly, exposed farmland. Footage is from the main access road, and shows the massive tower sections, the blades stacked up and the substation that collects the turbines' power before entering the National Grid.
