Film trailer, first ever documentary about Paraguayan guitar genius Agustin Barrios Mangore (1885-1944). Produced, written, and directed by Barrios historian Carlos Salcedo Centurion, from Kingsport, Tennessee. Edited by Paraguayan film-maker Agusto Netto. Featuring never-before-seen, rare footage of Barrios disciples Dr. Roberto Bracamonte, Victor Urrutia, and Julio Cortes Andrino, as well as legendary guitarrist and Barrios scholars that have journied for decades along the mythical "Barrios trail" in search of the timeless and fascinating story about one of the world's great guitar virtuosos. Includes Interviews with Richard "Rico" Stover, author of Six Silver Moonbeams; in El Salvador, Dr. Carlos Payes; in Paraguay, guitar virtuosos Sila Godoy and Felipe Sosa (who recorded the first tribute to Barrios LP in 1965); and in Brazil, the legendary record collector Ronoel Simoes. The documentary also brings to the forefront for the first time the issue of why Andres Segovia refused to "perform or promote" the work of his contemporary Agustin Barrios. In Spanish with English subtitles. Next-Level Film Productions.

  • With one hand Segovia loved to point and wave his finger

in people's faces, he knew more than you, no matter the subject.

In the other hand, his cane with silver knob, or a tobacco pipe -

Segovia the king, the intellectual, the number one guitar guy not

to be questioned. What was he hiding?

  • The documentary exposes Segovia as someone who never wanted to help promote Barrios, in fact Barrios' disciples comment how Segovia was very

arrogant and demeaned Barrios' legacy and works. Segovia lived to modern

times (1893-1987), another 43 years after Barrios' death (1944), yet he still asked his students not to perform Barrios' music. These are words told by Alirio Diaz, Richard Stover, Sharon Isbin, Cesar Amaro, Abel Carlevaro, among others. Segovia turns out being a type of Salieri.

  • Segovia = teacher, Barrios = universal musician.

  • Segovia is a great guitarist but Agustin Barrios is greater, he will live forever

  • I wish I could understand what they are saying!!!! Could someone tell me what the documentary has to say about segovia and why he never played Barrios' works??
