Hey man nice work, sounds great for a high schooler. I played this piece on my senior recital (lionel hampton school of music) too. I think you pretty much have, you just need to spend some time with the Keiko recording (you can get it on Steve Weiss) and check out her use of phrasing and dynamics. Some of those harder sections you can slow down a little bit and you will probably have less clams. But nice work, especially for a high school kid!
I played this for Solo and Ensemble in texas and my only 2 pieces of advice: slow it down so u can hit more notes and try to exaggerate the dynamics much more! Japanese marimbists are intense! every single loud moment has to be stronger, and every single soft part has to be much softer. Good job, and you are much better than like every other prism performance on youtube... one more thing. even though ive learned this, i can tell when you mess up cus you shake your head... not a great idea lol
Awesome. The little scale part after the poco meno mosso messes me up too. lol. Well I'm a junior in HS playing Prism too. How long have you been playing? I started Band when I was freshmen, and since I play piano, I was assigned to pit, which is cool. Well, good job. :)
hey mike this was my favorite solo you did i remember watching this is like holy fast ass singles batman. keep it up mang you'll get in cavi's fo sho next year cuz if they dont... they are idots! later mang!!!
