Child Seriously Burned By Hot Water In Bath

toddler suffered serious burns Wednesday afternoon when she fell into a hot bath.

Police said the mother of the 14-month-old child had just returned home in the 3500 block of Bellefontaine Avenue.

The mother wanted to take a bath, but because the gas is shut off at the house, her two sons were heating water on an electric stove.

The boys had boiled some water and poured it into the bathtub when the toddler reached into the tub and somehow fell in.

The mother said she heard a scream and ran over to rescue the child. The toddler is being treated in the burn unit of a local hospital.

The child's burns are serious, but not life-threatening, police said.
