Really disappointed in CH with this one. The Giving Tree is a story with great morals written by a wonderful author. It has a message that I think is important for all children to learn, and I think it's horrible that CH decided to make a crude and not even funny sketch making fun of one of Shel Silverstein's most meaningful and serious works. This was terrible.

RIP Shel Silverstein. I hope people remember your story, and not whatever this is supposed to be.

I do get what you're saying, and I agree it was not really a funny sketch. But CollegeHumor isn't exactly known for giving moral lessons to children.....just saying.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I had a great childhood and am not getting used (whatever that is supposed to mean). The story has the opposite facet of the tree being selfless and giving, yes, but any child who isn't brain damaged will pick up on the guy being a selfish prick and notice that not only was there no consequences for it, but the tree actually rewarded him over and over for it.

I will be honest here , that kid grew up to be a complete selfish douche bag , but you know what thats half of todays society for you . i know alot of people will get mad at this comment but you know what they say sometimes the truth hurts . , and since im being honest i thought this video was going to show a tree totally pounding someone like in the evil dead , i mean come on "the really really giving tree " i cant be the only one to think that is what was going to happen .

What message is that? That it's alright to mooch off the people that love you unconditionally then ignore them for years at a time until you need something else? In all honesty, The Giving Tree, like a lot of other children's story classics, really has a bit of a sad, dark undertone.
