  • Beautiful. But seeing buildings like this also makes me depressed thinking about all the beautiful movie palaces (i.e. the Fox Theater nearby in San Francisco) that have been demolished, particularly during the Cold War era, and replaced with ugly blocks of homogeneity. It was especially dumb in retrospect considering how city centers/downtown areas are rejuvenating and need history/culture like this. :-(

  • My nephew who is 6'5" loves this theater's main floor because it has legroom all over!

  • I love this place! I'm going to see Puss in Boots tomorrow!

  • i go here all the time

  • This is a great idea to market such a wonderful movie theater! I live in Illinois and make it a point to see any old movie palace whenever I'm traveling, and now this one is definitely on my list of theaters I must see. The owner seems like he has really kept the Grand Lake in its original splendor, and that is a thing to be cherished. Love that there's still a functioning organ, as well!

  • I come when ever there's a movie I want to see. Tonight I am going to see "The Black Swan"

  • Love the theater and the owner who is socially responsible, willing to stand behind his beliefs and values regardless of 'commercial' value. We come to this theater whenever a film we want to see is offered there. We support the owner as well as the value of this historic theater. I hope it remains the landmark beauty it is and has been. Thank you.

  • Love this old theatre! I used to come for Disney triple features, back in the day :-) Mahalo for your aloha of old movie palaces and for keeping this gem up and running, Mr. Michaan!
