End of a good engine run on my scratch-built and much modified Evans VP1 fitted with a factory reconditioned (Australian) Jabiru aircraft engine instead of a VW car engine. The little single-seater aircraft in now to be named "Annie Murphy" after my 4 kids' Irish great-grandmother. This fits in nicely with the official registration G-BVAM - or Alpha Mike for short. This is my 2nd VP1, I started G-AYUJ years ago and she is still flying. It's a classic design from California in the 1960s designed by Bud Evans and initially called the Volksplane. This is not a kit - you just buy the plans and cut the wood and metal yourself!

  • A happy pilot in his little plane. If it had its wings on, would it fly yet??

  • Ah, you noticed lack of wings. Yes she would fly but not legally, lots of inspections and paperwork needed. Wings finished in workshop apart from fabric covering this winter.
