76079 & 45407 at Hellifield Station - 21/12/2005

I've not been able to get out for quite a while so thought I'd trawl through some of my older stuff to see if there was anything worth uploading. This almost fits that bill but is not spectacular.

When we booked for this trip on the Dalesman the loco advertised was 6201 Princess Elizabeth but she apparently failed her "Fitness To Run" test the evening before. So we were extremely lucky and grateful that Mr. Riley was able to provide 76079 (The Pocket Rocket) and 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier as able substitutes for a very enjoyable run behind steam over the Settle and Carlisle line from Hellifield to Carlisle and back.

This is the only footage I took and shows the two locos reversing past the platforms at Hellifield to pick up the stock. As we were travelling I didn't want to be lumbered with a tripod so it is a little unsteady.

Thanks Austin. You never know what you might find looking back but I know there's a load of silent footage where I messed up the sound somewhere. I think there's a phenomenon called S&C weather!! Chris

Thanks EM. Looking back can be rewarding. As I recall it we were too late for the free mince pies and mulled wine at Hellifield (those in the know arrived early), it rained all day (surprise, surprise), Lizzie was replaced and the coach heating was non-functional (flipping cold trip - ice on the inside of the windows) but still had a great day out and wouldn't have missed it. Sad or what? Chris

Thanks Lou - quite frustrating to be honest. The rocket wasn't doing much here but she certainly did her share on the climbs. Chris
