  • @OHMYGAWDsomething i'm not scared. I improvise all the time. But there's a lot to learn from studying (note that I did NOT say IMITATE, there's a difference) the solos of the masters. Herbie Hancock has said that he used to transcribe Oscar Peterson's solos clinically. Charlie Parker transcribed Hawkins Body & Soul and transposed it into all twelve keys. Plus it's great ear training. If you really knew what jazz history is about, you'd know how foolish you sound.
