This drama/dance was performed around the U.S. and Europe in the wake of the Columbine High School massacre. Some of the performers were survivors of Columbine, and we wanted to express how important it is to take up the Martyrs' Torch as Rachel Joy Scott and others did at Columbine.

The Greek definition for "martyr" simply means "witness." Under Christian persecution, the word came to mean "one who dies in defense of his faith." Rachel Scott was well-known as a Christian witness, was vulgarly reviled by name by Harris and Klebold for her faith in a video, and was shot outside the school after being confronted by Harris about her faith in Christ before he executed her. You're thinking of Valeen Schnuur, and yes, she spoke as you said later in the library. Hope that helps!
