Tommy shows how to use a Tascam 414 multitrack cassette recorder.
This also applies to most other brands as well.
Tommy took this video using his Samsung S85 digital camera which makes AVI files which in this case the file size is 400 MB over 2 hours to upload.
Sorry about the video being so dark, the Tascam was under a shelf on his computer desk.`

  • how do you get the recordings into a computer?

  • @rayolacer He uses a program called AUDACITY, you can download it, it is free.

  • when u say "then you mix them in your recording program"...does that mean that you mix it OUTSIDE of the cassette recorder? like on software or something?

  • @tiddlywinks98712, Yes using "Audacity" on the computer.

  • oh ok, thanks, just one more question if u have time to answer. how can you mix in audacity and have it alter what is on the tape? or is this just if u are using the tascam to get the sound onto the final track on the PC?

    cheers

  • The sound is mixed in the Tascam, setting levels, etc. and than sent to the computer.

He records flat and IF he wants to boos or cut bass or treble he can do that in Audacity.

  • Thanks for the video, I have a 414MKII and I love it!!!

  • I have this 4 track and suddenly it just started rewining/fastforwarding and playing very slowly, making my recordings sound underwater and shakey. Does anybody know how I can fix this? I love using it so I'd really appreciate it if anyone has some advice. Thanks.

  • ohhh ok, well thats ok, and i may do that, but as long as i can still do panning and basic EQ inside the tascam too.

    cheers for ur help
