A collection of landings at Palo Alto Airport in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. A number of different planes including Cessna 152 172 206, but I couldn't tell you what the others are. There are a mixture of pilots in this clip, both experienced and learners in the pattern. Weather was typical for early afternoon - quite windy, approx 16 knots from around 340 degrees which gives a crosswind from the right.

I'm currently training for my PPL and
I was flying in pattern before I shot this video. The session started off with a 16 knot wind and on my final landing it was 12 knots gusting to 22! You will see some of these landings had a challenging gusting crosswind component.

The airport neighbours the Palo Alto Baylands area: http://www.paloaltoonline.com/things_do/baylands.php which is a popular place for bird watchers, hiking, biking and wind surfers. As you can see at the end of the video the weather was perfect for kites and windsurfers.

Please feel free to commment on the video (and the landings! :)

  • @aleupalex thanks! I did a lot of my flight training in that little 152, a great little plane. That final part of the landing where you need to flare at the right height and speed just as you're entering ground effect is one of the most difficult part of the landing approach to perfect.
