  • Do you have a component list available by chance?

  • @Klubkid69 Is there anything you would like to know in particular? Basically these systems connect solar panels to a grid tie unit, from ebay, and that grid tie unit plugs into the wall. It's that easy...I can give you part numbers of anything you want but you should go on ebay and look up Power Jack Grid ties.

  • @helloman1976 I have a different setup with batteries, charge controller and some panels... but I have them on a wooden rack and have wanted to put them on a steel/aluminum rack like what you have. So I guess the part of this vid I would want to know most is what components did you use to setup the solar tracking mount there? Those look like specific joints but not sure where to get things like that. Dunno sizes or how far in ground, etc. Hope that's not too much

  • @Klubkid69 Oh ok, well before I tell you all the info I would tell you to save your money and buy more panels instead. The trackers are nice, they work well, but it's just more to fail and buying additional panels with that money is the same thing only they don't break for 25+ years. I used 2"x8 foot fence post with a concrete base 3 feet down, those are wheel casters off 2,000lb+ mechanics tool bins that roll around your garage etc. The rest are bolts, washers and a lock nut.

  • @helloman1976 Ah, okay... I have a project started already... so the ideas are helpful; I appreciate it. I have 8 panels, a few I bought up to 4 years ago when I started by building my 1st generator... but the wooden racks I'm using are starting to wear down, so I thought I'd go with something that'll last a bit longer without having to bolt them to the room. On the racks/ground mount/tilt mount, I can squigee them from time to time. to help keep dirt off & efficiency up. Solar tracker next

  • @Klubkid69 Well if you already started then keep going but with 8 panels I go with a static mount that I could adjust up and down for the seasons. I just bought 10 x 200W 24V grade A solar panels for 87 cents a watt shipped. Check out Sunelec online, they have great panels for cheap. Or check out Solarblvd, sometimes they have sick deals...good luck!

  • @Klubkid69 *roof not room. :-)

  • @fanman1981 Well, I took the panels off it because they were blocking my other 4 on the ground. Now the idea is to put the panels on the roof or on a tall rack that I build. The solar tracker was great until the sun went behind the trees. Plan your solar panel placement in the Winter time not the Summer time, lesson learned :)

  • sweet solar tracker are we going to see it in action?

  • @helloman1976 Okay, it sounds like you have a good site. But, will you be able to install above the roof line? Can you place a tower so it can't fall off your land?

(And smack someone's house or car).

I was looking at some neat looking turbines on Ebay and I started reading the descriptions.. But could not find out how they handle the wire..

I know some of the units let the wire get all twisted up, but do any of the low power units have a 360 deg electrical coupling? Commutator-thingie?
