12-string Guitar: The Lincolnshire Poacher

The earliest printed version appeared in York about 1775. It is yet another song I learned from the BBC Broadcast 'Singing Together', the subject being fairly obvious. I have not sung it much, as the first time I did so in public, someone in the audience from Lincolnshire informed me that I was singing it all wrong. However, now I have heard others sing it on youtube, I am happier about my interpretation, so here it is.

@threelegsoman Sorry, there's just some creepy-military-spy radio station that constantly plays coded numbers. It also plays a fragment of a song called The Lincolnshire Poacher at frequent intervals, so that's what most of us civilians call it. I don't actually know what transmission used those specific numbers, but I saw them in a video once.

I always love it when I hear this song! Although I'm born and raised in Canada, my gran's family came from Lincs, and big piece of my heart lies in places like Tattershall, Wood Enderby, Wrawby, Woodhall Spa, Owmby-by-Spital, Market Rasen, and Hundleby! :o)
