The Greatest MC Of All Time! (Hip-Hop / Hiphop / Rap)

(1988 Interview in English with translations/explanations in German + Freestyle)

The Greatest Of All Time: not only the best in the world but ,as perfectly explained by the man himself, also the best in the whole universe.
A pioneer who has been doin' it for over 30 years and brought us such Hip-Hop classics as The Message, Beat Street, White Lines, World War II, Super Rappin', A Child Is Born, I Feel For You (with Chaka Kahn), Back On The Block (with Quincy Jones, Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane and Kool Moe Dee) and Gold (with Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five).
An inventor and innovator who layed the groundwork for ALL MC's to come after him (actually the very first Hip-Hop poet/philosopher on the mic to bring rhymes with socially/politically concious lyrical content instead of party rhymes).
A champion and a survivor who showed mad love for this art called Hip-Hop in the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and post millenium all the way up till today.
An idol and master of art who was and still is an inspiration to countless legendary groups and MC's worldwide including Chuck D. / Public Enemy, Kool Moe Dee / The Treacherous 3, KRS-ONE / Boogie Down Productions), Ice-T / Rhyme Syndicate, Big Daddy Kane, Tupac Shakur, Notorious BIG, etc. etc.
Yes, even if you don't know him or feel that your favourite MC is supposed to be the greatest of all time instead of this man right here, chances are big that if you'd ask them, they'd tell you this man has actually been an inspiration & influence for them too and therefore is the greatest for them also.
And that's what makes this man truely a legend!

  • Melle Mel is definitely a legend. In '88 he had already been rapping for 13yrs that's crazy. But on another Rakim is for sure the best to date hands down. All praises due to the GOD Rakim.

  • PAC, BIGGIE.ICE CUBE RAKIM TREACH.KRAYZIE BONE MC REN BIZZY BONE KRS ONE SNOOP DOGG METHOD MAN THE BEST RAPPERS OF ALL TIME

  • If you're wondering who still wears the hip-hop crown, which brother keeps melting our brains with mad lyricism and internal rhyme-play; which MC stands alone before the throne with joints like Musical Massacre (that cannot be touched to this day) it's brother Rakim! He's the Ali of the game...cats can talk all the want about Nas, GZA, and so on, But Rakim - NOBODY can step!! He's a sick brother. And The 18th Letter is better than illmatic - there, I said it. Word up to the God.
