The Senate version:
Southern Democrats: 1-20 (5%-95%) (only Senator Ralph Yarborough of Texas voted in favor)
Southern Republicans: 0-1 (0%-100%) (this was Senator John Tower of Texas)
Northern Democrats: 45-1 (98%-2%) (only Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia opposed the measure)
Northern Republicans: 27-5 (84%-16%)

5."medical reason" hahaha, that is a new one
what medical reasons?
so any 1 having medical problems would not be granted rights!!! that is conservatism to the extreme for you
conservative oppose it because it is their creed, which says, people are void of rights, society,(that would be the educated, rich and white male) are to decide when and to whom they will give rights
liberalism, on other hand, says; every person has the right to liberty ,life and to own property, among others

U R WRONG
i am speaking of conservatives, not party affiliation
but let me give a history lesson
1.-the democratic party was CONSERVATIVE back then, but switched to the republican side instead of supporting civil rights
2.-yes it was, segregation ws started by the conservative south, then democrats, after slavery was outlawed by the progressives, (that will be literal today)
3. those republicans were liberal, check how the conservative south voted, almost 100% against it
-
Oh my...you are a liar.
1. False. Democrats who were concerned about economic implications defended slavery for the South's benefit.
2. False. Segregation was begun due to societal misunderstandings, and had nothing to do with conservatism.
3. Wrong again. More Republicans voted for it then against.
4. Once more, it was a societal construct, not a political belief.
5. Due to medical reasons, quite plainly.
6. Explain please.

won not one after bush and obama
lol i hate same sounding words

okay you want to know why HIliary Clinton dropped out of the election is becuase McCain would of won, and since some americans still have sexist issues including all the races, so Hiliary would still have lost, so the democrats told her to pull out, so that our current president would be voted in racially, o and take a look at the election that bush one and compare it to the one obama one and lets not forget the do seperate the races on that chart, and i did see a huge difference in the last one

of course, typical hypocritical conservatives,
conservatives fought to keep slavery legal
conservatives started segregation
conservatives voted almost 100% against 1964 Civil Right ACT
conservatives denied woman and white the right to vote
CONSERVATIVES are denying gays rights.
conservative doctrine is CRIMINAL when it comes to human rights,
John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.
