I got to fly in one going from Travis AFB to Tokyo. just past the point of no return on the leg to Hawaii, one of the outboard engines caught fire. we made it in to Honolulu on 3. It checked out ok and we went on. That engine fell off on the way to Midway. We had 5 days there while another engine was flown in from the states. The rest of the trip went smooth as silk, I love that plane! It beat the hell outta the DC-3 we flew from Pennsylvania to SF.
